It’s that time of year again.

Westerner Days begins on July 19th, and we couldn’t be more excited to engage with everything this popular Red Deer fair has to offer.

From midway rides and amazing live entertainment to great food and nightly Pony Chuckwagon Races, this five-day event has something for everybody, and we’re going to fill you in on what you need to know.

Your Ticket In

First things first – you need to get your tickets in order to ensure you’re getting the best deal for the best experience possible.

This is the very first year that you can purchase your tickets in advance and cash in on some big savings when doing so.

There are a number of different options you can choose from. A Ride All Day Pass (RAD) is only $36, giving you both admission into the park, and a day filled with unlimited rides.

That’s unlimited access to a staggering 40 different midway rides in total!

If you’re interested in joining in on the fun for more than just a day, but you’re not much of a ride person, a 3-day MEGA Pass for $27 is the best way to do it. This pass includes gate admission for any 3 days during the fair.

Of course, you can always purchase regular admission and North American Midway tickets for the day as well:

The festivities start every day at 12:00 p.m. and go until midnight, excluding Sunday when the fair closes at 10:30 pm.

Food, Food And…More Food

Make sure you bring your appetite, because there will be no shortage of mouthwatering food selections at this years’ fair all day long.

Outdoor food trucks will adorn the streets with everything need to satisfy your tastebuds. The Hot Chihuahua Mexican Grill and Bridies Donuts are only two of many vendors who will be in attendance.

Holiday Inn 19th Street Market

Westerner Days Fair & Exposition brings in over 100 worldwide exhibitors each year to showcase their products and services. This is your chance to get your shopping on during the fair from fashion to home decor and everything else in between! This street market has it all.

Live Music

Throughout the fair, you can expect to see live music on the ENMAX Centrium Main Stage and in the Bud Barn & Beer Gardens on the Chillabong’s stage. In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, the entertainment line-up is exclusively made up of all Canadian performers!

All Things Family Fun

Don’t miss the chance to bring the whole family to the fair in this traditional summer kick-off.

This year, there are many children-specific events that will have the kids wanting more! Safari Jeff will be putting on a highly entertaining event that will feature live animals, huge original artwork, creative props, and more.

Saputo Kids Corral is a pop-up that will be at the fair daily complete with an Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Hockey Shoot Out, face painting, mini-golf, crafts and so much more. The fair’s “Cutest Show On Earth” is a high energy, free show designed to get family members playing together.

Need a cool down after a day of thrilling rides and shows? The Calm Room is a space families can have a quiet and relaxing moment to settle down and recharge.

The list of family-fun activities is endless. Come and see for yourself!

All Things Animals

Of course, there are many events you can come and watch if you’re an animal fan at Westerner Days.

From the 19th Annual Westerner Days Red Deer Motors North American Pony Chuckwagon Championships to the Pony Steeplechase Championship Series, there is plenty to keep you entertained for the entire fair.

The Little Red Barn & Area is where kids can enjoy a petting zoo and a tractor pull, while mom and dad can head over to the Xtreme Cowboy Competition if they’re looking to see good horsemanship between a horse and an experienced rider in an epic obstacle course.

There’s no lack of farm animal at this fair.

The Grand Finale

Get ready for four nights of spectacular fireworks to end your day off right at this years’ fair after the Main Stage concert. An amazing finish to an amazing time!
