Our Dream Home is only four weeks away from completion and as we’re putting the final touches to our grand event, there are many people in the community that we would like to thank. The success of our Dream Home could not be possible without the help from our amazing sponsors and in order to show our appreciation for them, we’ve decided to give them a sponsor shoutout on our blog. This week, we are spotlighting Servus Credit Union. With their sponsorship valued at approximately $7,500 for this year’s Dream Home, we can’t thank them enough. Read on to find out more about what their mission is in the community of Red Deer and all the other sponsorships and donations they take part in.

Servus Credit Union is a member-owned, community-based financial institution offering expert, tailored advice for members all across Alberta. Servus is unique in offering a 100% deposit guarantee plus Profit Share, where each member is paid a portion of the profits every year. Servus believes that Albertans deserve the best service available, and community support that goes above and beyond.

Servus supports the community with over $2 million in sponsorships and donations to provincial and local not for profit organizations. They concentrate their efforts on the following areas of focus:

Local Community Initiatives and Events – Servus supports local events that define their towns, cities and regions and celebrate their history and culture (rodeos, fairs, parades, festivals, gathering places, libraries, etc.).  In doing so, they support thousands of volunteers (and employees) through sponsorship and participation making communities better places to work and live.

Social Services and Poverty – Servus has a history of supporting the less fortunate through support of local United Ways, social services agencies and initiatives that address families and children at risk.

Education – Servus focuses provincial strategies on financial literacy through partnerships with organizations like Junior Achievement and 4-H to assist young people secure a positive future.  They also provide support to post-secondary institutions through endowments for scholarships.

Children and Youth – Servus provides support for children with disabilities, mentorship programs, minor sports, and arts programs making participation available and affordable. At the same time they’re creating communities where people want to raise families.

As a credit union, they understand that each community where we operate is different in its needs and priorities and therefore the majority of community investment decisions are made locally to ensure they’re addressing those concerns.

Something people may not know is that Servus is a cooperative, and they share profits with their members. That means that as a Servus member you get money back simply for doing banking you would do anyway. Last year they shared $48 Million dollars in profits with their members.

Servus is proud to have donated over $2 million to worthy causes across Alberta on behalf of its members last year. Causes like the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation where they helped fund the construction of two new surgical suites in the labour and delivery wards of the Red Deer Regional Hospital, and the United Way of Central Alberta where they gave over $45,000. And as part of the Servus Community Access program they’re also proud to continue hosting Family Day at Red Deer’s Westerner Days every year to help everyone in their community afford access to this great event.

Servus Credit Union is an institution that we are so proud to work with in the Red Deer community. To learn more about what makes them standout or to inquire about their services, visit their website.
