As mentioned early this week, we are excited to announce our partnership with Habitat for Humanity Red Deer in our upcoming 50/50 draw. Founded in 1994, Habitat for Humanity Red Deer region Society has since built 29 homes and continues to grow this number annually. Because of their longstanding relationships within their international communities, Habitat for Humanity has been able to promote homeownership as means to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Thursday, August 18th marks a special occasion for Habitat for Humanity Red Deer Region. They will be hosting their second annual Formal Garden Party Fundraiser at Parkland Nurseries and Garden Centre to raise funds for their next Habitat Homes. Read on below for all you need to know about their fundraiser and how you can get involved!
This afternoon event starts off at their new build site at Shepherd Heights, Lacombe. This will be an opportunity for volunteers and stakeholders to come out to the site and meet Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Members, Haley Wickenheiser and Bearcat Murray, the Mayor of Lacombe and the MLA for Lacombe. It will be great afternoon spent celebrating all sponsors and friends of Habitat for Humanity.
With a Bourbon Street theme, guests are invited to partake in a silent auction with approximately 50 items, each with a value of $250+ and spectate a Top Chef Competition with top chefs including executive chefs from the Pomeroy, Sheraton and Radisson Hotels; the La Casa Pergola Restaurant and Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites. Your evening will be full of great sounds by the Hot Dixieland Jazz Band while special guests include Hayley Wickenheiser and Bearcat Murray (members of the AB Sports Hall of Fame), local MLAs, MPs, and Mayors, the Sports Hall of Fame, the Presidents of Olds and the Presidents of Red Deer College.
It’s important that we all work together to make a difference in our very own neighbourhood and this event is doing just that. If you or anyone you know would like to support the community and have fun doing it, please share. For more information or to purchase your tickets contact Habitat at 403-309-6080 Ext 2.
