We start in September. 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 6:30PM. Click for info on how to join!

A big part of the Kinsmen Club is our bi-monthly meetings. We all have busy lives, but these events allow us to catch up and form lifelong relationships . They also allow us to come up with new ideas as to how we can improve Red Deer and the surrounding area through good works projects. A majority of our members are in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s; we also have guys who are married with children and others who prefer a bachelor lifestyle, making us a group made up of many diverse backgrounds. We thought we’d take a moment to let you know about our first meeting of the year, as well as the general format of the meetings to come.

Our first meeting of the year will take place on September 6th at 6:30pm. We’ll be meeting at the 7983 Edgar Industrial, Red DeerTo kick off this year’s first meeting with a bang, we’ll be receiving a delicious slow cooked, smoked beef brisket (plus all of the fixings) from the kind folks over at the Red Deer Food Bank.

They’ve helped many families in the community and throughout Central Alberta and we can’t thank them enough for providing meals to those who need them the most. We’ll continue to do everything in our power, whether it’s giving them an extra set of hands or some financial assistance, to make sure even more families don’t have to worry about feeding themselves and their loved ones.

We usually meet at 6:30 and grab dinner while socializing before we get down to business. Once we finish eating, we begin our meetings with a series of reports from the different members, including updates from the Service Director, Dream Home Chair, and Sergeant of Arms. But not all of our meetings are business-based; depending on our on the agenda, we’ll meet for a team building activity like bowling, laser tag, or even a night on the town.

Throughout these meetings, we pick a Kinsmen that acts as a buddy to each new members. We do this in order to help them feel comfortable around the new faces. The Kinsmen also acts as someone who can answer any of their questions questions that may come up. Once we hear from the various members, we generally close the meetings with an invitation to meet afterwards. Whether it’s catching a hockey game or just grabbing a cold one with a few of the Kinsmen, this post-meeting event is completely optional and gives us another opportunity to learn more about each other.

If you’re interesting in attending our first meeting of the year, please RSVP with Chris, our Membership Chairman at christopherklassen@yahoo.com.  Additionally, follow us on Twitter and Facebook so see some of the past projects we’ve been a part of. Looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting!
