What would we do without the Red Deer Museum & Art Gallery? Besides being a place where people young and old can learn about Red Deer, it also teaches those new to Central Alberta about the rich history of our area. A popular attraction year round, the facility has also become a favourite of many children (including some of our youngest future Kinsmen and Kinettes) and young teens, thanks to the exceptional programs that occur.

Because the Museum & Art Gallery are a non-profit and admissions are based on donations, support from the public is a big part of their success. We thought we’d take a moment to speak on their importance and help spread awareness on this vital place in our community.

Without this place, learning about the culture and history of Red Deer and the surrounding area within Central Alberta would be difficult. From clothing and military memorabilia to First Nations artwork, these exhibitions proudly showcase what Red Deer is all about. Thanks to them, future generations will be able to look back and appreciate the variety of historical items contains within these walls.

The Kinsmen were able to help them out by purchasing a software that makes organizing data and building relationships online a lot easier. Sumac is customizable program that allows smaller organizations to do everything from manage email and social media to coordinate tours and manage volunteers. Since the majority of people find out about the Museum’s events via social media, it’s a tool that’s become crucial when getting the word out. We’re proud to have given them the funds needed to get the program and we hope it’s making their jobs a little bit easier!
