Kinsmen Supporter Spotlight: Janice Resch of Century 21!
Without our sponsors, the Dream Home Lottery wouldn't be the same.
Although the sponsors we work with come from a variety of backgrounds and industries, there's one core reason why they've partnered with us time and time again: they see the value in improving the lives of Central Albertan through local initiative. They understand the difference that our events have on the community and have made and will continue to make. Whether it's through their hard work and materials, or a financial contribution, each sponsor is an important part of each of our events.
But do you know about these businesses besides their name and location? We're creating a new feature, the Kinsmen Supporter Spotlight. Each month, we'll be speaking with one Kin-affiliated sponsor to learn more about them and their relationship with the Kinsmen. This month's supporter is Janice Resch from Century 21. Janice has had a long history with our club and we're proud to kick off this series by asking her about how much the Kin Clubs and Red Deer mean to her.
Looking Back at This Year's Dream Home Lottery!
2015 is coming to a close, which means we're almost ready to announce the winners of our Dream Home Lottery.
As Kinsmen, we're always looking for opportunities to give back to our community. Because of your support, we've been able to contribute to many organizations in Red Deer. From the local Food Bank and the Family Services of Central Alberta, to the Treehouse Youth Theatre and the Red Deer Regional Hospital, we've been able to keep the promise outlined by the Kinsmen before us by continuing to help those in need. Thanks to the Dream Home Lottery, we can raise the funds necessary to assist these organizations. But we can only keep this event going with your support. If you want to work with us to improve Red Deer and the surrounding area, all you have to do is buy a ticket to our annual event.
Community Spotlight: The Family Services of Central Alberta
2015 is almost over and the holidays are in full force. Although many of us have plans to spending this time with our friends and family over a delicious Christmas feast, the end of December is stressful for many people. Emotions run high, and coupled by the fact that our economy isn't in the best position, we need to spread awareness about the various services available to the public. That's why we're proud to support the Family Services of Central Alberta (also known as F.S.C.A) with their endeavours. As a social group that is always trying to improve Red Deer, we understand how important they are to the community; we're also proud that we get to work with an organization that shares our values.
Join us on the Ice at Bower-Kin Place!
When was the last time you visited Bower Kin Place? Although it's accessible year round, there's something special about lacing up your skates during the winter months. Whether you plan on rounding up your friends for a weekend hockey or you take your young ones out on the ice for their first skating lesson, outdoor rinks provide an opportunity for everyone to stay active and have fun during a time when most people spend their days indoors.
Take a Tour Through This Year's Dream Home!
Happy December everyone! The Dream Home Lottery is just over three weeks away from being complete and we can't wait to announce all of the winners! These past few months have been busy for everyone, but we want to say thank you to this year's home builder, Larkaun Homes, and all of the companies and tradesmen who donated their time and resources into making this home a success (to see a list of this year's sponsors, visit this link). We also want to say thanks to everyone who has bought a ticket this year; you continued support to our annual event makes us proud to be Kinsmen. If you have yet to see the Dream Home, we're confident that these pictures will make you want to visit the home!
Member of the Month: Leonard Sisco
Over the years, the Kinsmen have gained a reputation for providing assistance to Red Deer and the surrounding community as well as being a great opportunity for men to socialize and make lifelong friendships.
But who make up the Kinsmen? What are they like on a personal level? To answer these questions, we've created a new series called Member of the Month. Each month, we'll speak with one of the Kin to learn more about them and to highlight their accomplishments in relation to the Kinsmen's efforts.
To start things off, we've spoken to Leonard Sisco. As a longtime member of the Kinsmen and this year's Dream Home Chair, we wanted to ask him a few questions including how he became a member and his favourite parts about the club.
7 Facts About Kin Canada!
Now in it's 95th year, Kin Canada has had a rich relationship with Canadians from all over the country. While the club began as a way for men to meet and make their communities a better place, it's expanded to involved women and those in post secondary (The Kinettes and Kin Campus, respectively).
But what do you really know about the Kin? Here are 7 facts about our organization. If you're interested in learning more about what Kin Canada is all about, head to their website. You'll find all kinds of resources, including a few ways you can get involved with your own community and meet other leaders in the community
A Sneak Peek Into This Year's Dream Home!
Who else is is counting down the days until the Dream Home grand opening? Last week, we showed you a few pictures of the lighting fixtures from our friends over at Red Deer Lighting. This week, we're giving a huge Kinsmen thank you to the various businesses that have contributed to the home by showing you a few more shots of the highly anticipated interior. Before we get rolling, we wanted to thank everyone that helped in creating this fantastic grand prize. Now in it's 34th year, the Dream Home Lottery is only possible because of all the tradesmen, prize sponsors and ticket buyers who have participated in making the community a better place. Thanks to you, the Kinsmen can continue to run this event year after year.
Supporter Spotlight: Red Deer Lighting
We're less than two weeks away from the Dream Home grand opening! Over the past months, Larkaun Homes, this year's home builder, and the various tradesmen have been hard at work in getting this grand prize ready for the Dream Home Lottery. We cannot thank everyone enough for their contributions and we're proud to be associated to these fantastic sponsors. Seeing so many different organizations working together to build something that will impact the community makes us appreciate everything Red Deer has to offer. Not only will this home put a giant smile on the face of one lucky ticket owner, but it will lead to the funding of many groups in Red Deer and Central Alberta
Today, we wanted to put the spotlight (pun intended) and say thanks to a longtime supporter of the Kinsmen Dream Home: Red Deer Lighting.Read More
Community Spotlight: Ronald McDonald House Charities Central Alberta
Dealing with a sick child is never an enjoyable experience, especially when you're coming from out of town. Besides the fact that you need to make the actual trip to a place you might not be familiar with, most hospitals aren't designed to accommodate parents and other family members. Because of this, families feel pressured to get their basic needs taken care of while their son or daughter receives medical care. Instead of having panicked families who will worry about where they'll be able to sleep, there's a fantastic non-profit right here in Red Deer that's changing lives: the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Alberta.Read More
