Community Spotlight: Saying Goodbye to Loaves and Fishes
At the Red Deer Kinsmen Club, one of our consistent goals is to showcase the amazing work of those in our own community. With a growing rate of assistance that is needed to help those affected by hunger, abuse, addiction and homelessness, it’s important that we have organizations that make these issues a priority. Loaves and Fishes was one of those organizations that stepped up and continued to change the lives of so many people over the years. From delivering nourishing food to those who need it most to providing safety from oppression and discrimination, Loaves and Fishes truly demonstrated what it meant to help others. After 20 years of service Loaves and Fishes Benevolent Society is closing its doors and we want to just say thank you for everything that they have done for the community.Read More

Interview: Melissa Vine from Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre!
One of the best part about our club is that we're in a position to give back to those around us. From the Red Deer Food Bank to the Family Services of Central Alberta, not only have we made meaningful relationships with charities and non profits, but we've been able to work together and change lives in the process. Most recently, we were able to contribute to Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre. In order to show you how the organization assists children with special needs, we've asked Melissa Vine, Aspire's Fund Development Coordinator, a few questions.
Celebrate the Redevelopment of The Red Deer Area With the Kinsmen!
If you've been in Red Deer for long enough, there's a good chance that you have at least one fond memory of The Red Deer Arena. Whether you were cheering on your favourite hockey team or you used the facility for a birthday party or other get together, this area, which has been around for more than 60 years, is a vital part of our city. In order to meet the demands of Red Deer's growing population, the city has decided to give us a brand new area which will be completed by mid-2018 and will be used for the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Although our new area will lead to more opportunities for sports, music, and other forms of entertainment, it also means that we'll have to say goodbye to one of our city's most iconic buildings.Read More
Become a Dream Home Lottery Sponsor Today!
Are you a business owner? How would you like to promote your products/services to thousands of people in Alberta while giving back to the community? Thanks to the Dream Home Lottery, you can do both at the same time!
Since 1981, The Red Deer Kinsmen Club has been giving Albertans the chance to win a brand new home and other fantastic prizes, including cars and vacations. Thanks to the efforts of our home builder, sponsors, and ticket buyers, we've been able to change lives and support organizations like The Red Deer Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Family Services of Central Alberta, and the Red Deer Regional Hospital. This year, we've broken down our prizing categories into tiers and have listed the recommended contributions to qualify. Acceptable forms of prizes include your product as a whole or at a discounted rate, or a cash offering equivalent to the recommended contribution level.
Member of the Month: JC Levenne
Over the years, the Kinsmen have gained a reputation for providing assistance to Red Deer and the surrounding community as well as being a great opportunity for men to socialize and make lifelong friendships.
But who make up the Kinsmen? What are they like on a personal level? To answer these questions, we've created a new series called Member of the Month. Each month, we'll speak with one of the Kin to learn more about them and to highlight their accomplishments in relation to the Kinsmen's efforts.
This month, we're speaking with JC Levenne. JC is a Supply Chain Manager at Control Technology and has been a member of the club for 6 years. Over the years, he's been President and Dream Home Chair of the Kinsmen; these days, he is our club's Treasurer.
Kinsmen Supporter Spotlight: Ryan Philip of Red Deer Lighting!
Without our sponsors, the Dream Home Lottery wouldn't be the same.
Although the sponsors we work with come from a variety of backgrounds and industries, there's one core reason why they've partnered with us time and time again: they see the value in improving the lives of Central Albertan through local initiative. They understand the difference that our events have on the community and have made and will continue to make. Whether it's through their hard work and materials, or a financial contribution, each sponsor is an important part of each of our events.
But do you know about these businesses besides their name and location? We're creating a new feature, the Kinsmen Supporter Spotlight. Each month, we'll be speaking with one Kin-affiliated sponsor to learn more about them and their relationship with the Kinsmen. This month, we're speaking with Ryan Philip from Red Deer Lighting. Besides contributing to our Dream Home Lottery, Ryan has been a member of the club for 8 years and has been involved with many of our events.
