Dealing with a sick child is never an enjoyable experience, especially when you're coming from out of town. Besides the fact that you need to make the actual trip to a place you might not be familiar with, most hospitals aren't designed to accommodate parents and other family members. Because of this, families feel pressured to get their basic needs taken care of while their son or daughter receives medical care. Instead of having panicked families who will worry about where they'll be able to sleep, there's a fantastic non-profit right here in Red Deer that's changing lives: the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Alberta.

What would we do without the Red Deer Museum & Art Gallery? Besides being a place where people young and old can learn about Red Deer, it also teaches those new to Central Alberta about the rich history of our area. A popular attraction year round, the facility has also become a favourite of many children (including some of our youngest future Kinsmen and Kinettes) and young teens, thanks to the exceptional programs that occur.

Because the Museum & Art Gallery are a non-profit and admissions are based on donations, support from the public is a big part of their success. We thought we'd take a moment to speak on their importance and help spread awareness on this vital place in our community.

For years, the Red Deer Food Bank has been instrumental in making sure families don't have to worry about feeding themselves or their loved ones. Whether you’re in the mood for a bike ride, a walk with your dog, or you want to have fun with the kids at the playground, Kin Kanyon is the best place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Red Deer. You can walk through the seemingly never-ending trails and have a blast experiencing the natural beauty of the area regardless of what season is (that being said, we love the Kanyon the most during the summer season.) To celebrate our favourite time of the year, we thought we’d take a moment to acknowledge one of our favourite parks in the city and look back at some of the projects we've helped fund.

The Red Deer Public Library: more than just a place to grab a new book. Through their numerous events and programs, they've become a great place to meet like-minded people and have done amazing things for our community over the years—two characteristics that the Kinsmen also hold in high regard.

We want to take a moment to give thanks to everyone at the Red Deer Public Library, as well as highlight some moments from their history that the Kinsmen were involved in.
