We’re making a huge assumption here when we say we know you’re already a Rebels fan. However, with the team starting training camp next week, a refresher to gear the city up for hockey season isn't going to hurt, is it?

At Kinsmen, it is safe to say that activities and communities are values we hold dear, so we are excited to get back into another year of local hockey.

Here are three things you need to know about the Red Deer Rebels as they gear up for the 2017-18 WHL season:

1. The first Rebels face-off is for charity

Supporting local community fundraising initiatives is always something we'd like to highlight. On Wednesday, August 30, you can support the Rebels while also supporting the Red Deer Fire Fighters Children’s Charity. For only $2, watch the Rebels face each other at the Annual Black & White game. Puck drops at the Enmax Centrium at 7 pm.

2. Rebels training camp sessions are open to the public

With the sun still shining down on us, it feels strange to think about time at the rink. However, starting next week, you can visit the Enmax Centrium for a taste of your local hockey talent. Rebels training camp is a good opportunity to bring your young Canadian dreamers to watch how the team prepares for a season. This is an especially cool opportunity for those of us with young sons and daughters playing hockey this winter.

Check out the training camp schedule here.

3. Pre-season games start September 1

What’s more exciting than training camp? We'll harbour a guess that pre-season is a good next step. Plan to catch one of the following games before the kids’ school schedule gets too hectic, and support local Red Deer hockey:

  • Friday, September 1 – Calgary @ Red Deer, 7:00PM
  • Saturday, September 2 – Edmonton @ Red Deer, 7:00PM
  • Friday, September 8 – Red Deer @ Tri-City, 7:05PM Pacific Time
  • Saturday, September 9 – Red Deer vs Portland @ Tri-City, 3:00PM Pacific Time
  • Saturday, September 16 – Medicine Hat @ Red Deer, 7:00PM

September 1 is also when single game tickets go on sale for the regular season, starting at 10 am - because we know, even though you're excited about all this pre-season stuff, you're going to want to bring the family to one of the big games.

Okay, we know. You’re still waiting for news on the 2017 Dream Home, and it’s coming soon - we promise. In the meantime, subscribe to our newsletter so you’re not missing a beat once tickets go on sale!
